Panchbol Point in Amravati

The Panchbol Point
A visit to the main tourist locations of Amravati will lead one to the beautiful Chikhaldara hill station. Amidst the amazing natural beauty stands the Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary and surrounding it there are many small places of interest, where a small visit can be memorable.

One of these places is the Panchbol Point, which stands amidst the serene natural beauty. It is one of the most popular viewpoints of the hill station with its location placed very close to the beautiful Bir Lake. A proper navigable road has been built by the state administration from the lake all the way up to the point. Jeeps and SUVs are preferable for this road. One can enjoy a trek through the forests to the Panchbol Point. While on a trek people can enjoy the bird eye view of the long stretched green valley. The Chikhaldara region is famous for coffee plantations. The winding road goes through many patches of coffee fields.

Once to the top, the view is mesmerizing. The fatigue and exertion of the road journey vanishes once the magical view of the nature starts unfurling itself. From the top one can see the five hill edges of the Satpura range naturally connected to each other. The range view gives one a perception of the flowing waves of a sea. The place is a heaven for the photographers and the panoramic view of the green mountain range along with the deep valley downwards completes the canvas.

The specialty of this viewpoint is that if someone shouts here, the sound comes back echoed five times. Thus the place has got its name as “Panchbol” which means “five voices”. This point is also known as the Five Echo Point.

Best time to visit this view point is between October and March, when rainfall is very scarce over here and weather is pretty pleasant. Summers are also ok, but early morning will only be pleasant. Later parts of the day are pretty hot with the sun glowing on top of your head. Visit during daytime is advised, as the place is pretty deserted and surrounded by forest area. Trekkers must wear light clothes along with hunting boots to avoid any falling injury and getting twisted ankles. A light jacket can be carried inside the backpack. One must carry food and enough water, as there are no shops available at the hill top.

How to Reach

People traveling by their own car must take the NH6 to reach the Bir Lake from Amravati town. Well maintained roads are present form any parts of Maharashtra to the Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary, from where only one road leads to the hill top view point. Local taxis and tour cars are available for a day’s trip to Panchbol Point.
